California School of Professional Psychology’s Sacramento-based Clinic to Provide Much Needed Services for Adults Who Have Experienced Trauma Across California
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Jan. 15, 2025) – Following program success in San Diego and its expansion into the San Francisco Bay Area, Alliant Educational Foundation (AEF) recently helped launch a new mental health telehealth clinic, Alliant University Sacramento Psychological Services and is now accepting clients. As a new model based on the community’s needs, the virtual clinic will provide high quality, affordable mental health services to adults anywhere in California with mild to moderate issues related to anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, grief and other concerns.
Low-cost fees for all individuals ensure services are accessible, with individual therapy sessions priced at $15 per session and group therapy offered at $50 per 6-week period.
AEF partners with Alliant International University (AIU) and other institutions to provide a steady stream of funding and resources for a variety of programs. The Foundation previously funded the San Diego Regional Children’s Mental Health Consortium, which since 2020 has provided mental health services to at-risk children and youth – and last year provided nearly 2,000 individual and group sessions for 153 clients. AEF also recently announced the launch of the San Francisco Bay Area Children’s Mental Health Consortium.
According to AEF’s CEO Valin Brown, “The San Diego Regional Children’s Mental Health Consortium has made a significant difference in the lives of many through holistic mental health treatment, with a focus on early intervention and prevention. Our goal is to produce similar outcomes for adults throughout California.”
Partnering with AIU’s California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP), the AEF-funded telehealth clinic will offer services provided by CSPP graduate students from the school’s Sacramento campus, working with the clinic director and a licensed clinical psychologist supervisor initially funded by AEF. The clinicians will provide clinical assessment and therapy for adults experiencing challenges after undergoing trauma.
The new telehealth clinic offers online services and is working toward providing in-person services in the future.
According to Natalie Bennett, an AIU professor and director of practicum training, the telehealth clinic will be a win-win for all those involved: “By placing Alliant International University clinical psychology graduate students at the new clinic, we’re bolstering their ability to provide high-quality mental health support to diverse populations who most need it through trauma-informed mental health treatment.”
“Alliant Educational Foundation is providing the seed funding for this new program. We look forward to expanding our efforts into the Sacramento region to provide even more access to quality mental health assessment and treatment for communities in need statewide,” Brown added.
According to recent treatment outcome data, the AEF-funded San Diego Regional Children’s Mental Health Consortium has generated significant results, providing an optimal model for Sacramento and San Francisco – as well as future programs throughout California. Last year, 70% of students treated in partnership with San Diego Unified School District showed improvement in overall mental health functioning, while 75% showed decreased depression and 43% decreased generalized anxiety disorder.
Potential adult clients for the Alliant University Sacramento Psychological Services can call and leave a confidential voicemail at 916-900-3130. A screening specialist will return calls within 72 business hours to conduct a free 15-minute screening and determine if the services are a good fit.
